Jan 12th, 2001/ press release The 2001 Cacique Awards is proving to be the most highly anticipated and competitive in the event’s six-year history. Nominations in the 13 local categories are steadily flowing into the Ministry of Tourism. However, according to Adrian Archer, executive producer of the Cacique Awards, the Lifetime Achievement Award category has received the majority of nominations so far.
“We are extremely pleased that many persons have seen fit to recognize the stalwarts of the Tourism industry – persons who have given dedicated service for over twenty-years, “ Mr. Archer said. Mr. Archer noted that the increased number and quality of the nominations in this category are indicative of the many unsung Tourism heroes who have given so much to the country and the public’s determination to see them recognized for their contribution. The 2001 Lifetime Achievement Award winner will be the first benefactor of the Royal Bank of Canada’s cash prize of fifteen hundred dollars and a matching donation to be given to a local charity of the recipient’s choice. Dr Patricia Rodgers, chairman of the Cacique Awards commended Royal Bank of Canada for playing a major role in celebrating outstanding individuals whose service increases visitor satisfaction and makes The Islands Of the Bahamas a premiere destination. Royal Bank of Canada has been the principal sponsor of the Cacique awards for the past four years. With the nomination process closing on Friday, December 22, organizers of the Cacique Awards are encouraging the public to submit their nominations by 5:30 pm on the date.
